A man who assaulted comedian Dave Chappelle onstage in May is discovering that physical assault is not something to laugh about.
Isaiah Lee, who stormed the stage during Chappelle’s performance at the Netflix Is a Joke festival in Los Angeles on May 3 and tackled the comic to the ground, has pleaded no contest to battery and entering a restricted area during a live event, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office’s Ian Thompson told USA TODAY in an email Thursday.
Lee was sentenced to 270 days in county jail, according to Thompson.
Following the incident, security personnel at the Hollywood Bowl, where the festival was held, detained Lee.
