After being run over by a snowplough earlier this month and suffering serious injuries, actor Jeremy Renner is now out of the hospital and back at home.
Renner, 52, has kept fans updated on his condition since being hospitalised on New Year’s Day after the accident. He posted an update on Twitter on Monday.
“Aside from my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home,” Renner said in response to a tweet about his Paramount+ television series, “Mayor Of Kingstown,” which premiered its second season on Sunday.
According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred near Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada. According to a Reno Gazette Journal article from 2019, Renner has owned a home in the area for several years.
Renner suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries in the accident, according to his representative, Sam Mast, earlier this month. Mast said he was in critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit after undergoing surgery on January 2.
Renner was ploughing snow for a neighbour when he was hit by a PistenBully snowplough weighing at least 7 tonnes, according to Washoe County Sheriff Darryl Balaam earlier this month.
Renner went to speak to a family member when the snowplough started to roll toward him. He attempted to get into the driver’s seat to stop it and was run over, according to Balaam.
Neighbors assisted Renner while he waited 40 minutes for first responders to arrive due to weather conditions, according to Balaam.
“What I can tell you is that there was no doctor on the scene,” he explained. “It was some good neighbours who came out with some towels and helped.”
Renner is best known for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s also a two-time Academy Award nominee for his roles in “The Hurt Locker” and “The Town.”
He has previously shared photos and videos of himself standing next to snowploughs and driving through icy terrain in his Jeep on Instagram.
