According to Statista, Facebook was the most popular online social network in the world in the first quarter of 2022, with approximately 2.93 billion users worldwide. In 2021, Facebook will be the top platform on which American users spend the most time per day.
The social media platform has evolved into a hub for users to connect with family, friends, and coworkers. However, with so many users on the platform, it’s possible that anyone could find your account.
Here’s how to make yourself as private as possible on Facebook if you want to secure your account.
How to Make Your Facebook Account Private
There are several options for who can see your Facebook profile and posts in terms of privacy, including:
“Anyone on or off Facebook,” says the public.
Friends: “Your Facebook friends.”
Except for some friends: “Don’t show to some friends.”
“Only show to a select group of friends.”
To change your privacy settings on Facebook, go to your account icon on a desktop and select “Settings & privacy.” Choose “Settings” and then “Privacy.”
You can then specify who sees which parts of your content. You can change your activity to control who sees your future posts, who sees the people, pages, and lists you follow, and who sees your friend lists, among other things.
To change the privacy settings, click “Edit” to the right of the option and select the privacy option from the Who Can View drop-down menu.
