After surpassing Kylie Jenner as the most followed woman on Instagram, Selena Gomez announces a social media hiatus.

Selena Gomez is once again the Instagram king, so step aside Kylie Jenner.

As Selena Gomez, 25, who starred in “Only Murderers in the Building,” took a break from social media in 2018 to focus on her mental health, Jenner, 25, overtook her as the most followed person on Instagram.

When asked about her internet break on “Good Morning America” in April, Gomez, 30, replied, “I am happier, I am more present, I connect better with people.” “I am aware of the internet’s immense power and all the wonderful things it has accomplished for the world. Yet, for me, the news that is genuinely relevant to me comes from the people in my life.”

Last month, Gomez made a comeback to the platform and announced it to her followers with the post, “Wait, can you tell I’m back on Instagram?”

Since then, the singer has worked her way up to become the most followed woman on Instagram with 381 million followers, closely followed by the founder of Kylie Cosmetics with 380 million.

Despite rumours of a conflict, Selena Gomez and Kylie Jenner deny having a terrible relationship.

Gomez’s return to the top spot follows a fan’s TikTok rumour that Jenner was indirectly criticising her on Instagram, which both stars promptly refuted.

In a video posted to TikTok, the “Calm Down” singer apologised to her fans for “inadvertently laminating my brows” too much. A few hours later, Jenner uploaded a picture of herself to her Instagram Stories with the message “this was an accident?????” written over her eyebrows. The “Kardashian” star also posted a photo of herself and Hailey Bieber on FaceTime that prominently displayed their eyebrows.

In a video posted on Wednesday, TikTok user @devotedly.yours claimed that Jenner and Bieber were “shading Selena Gomez” with the eyebrow pictures. She said, “This is very, very, very childish.”

The social media user later brought up Gomez and Bieber’s past relationships with Justin Bieber, who eventually wed the singer of the song “Peaches.” They both dispelled fan suspicions, and in an effort to dispel any rumours of strife, they both shared a photo of themselves from the Academy Museum of Motion Picture Gala in October.

Jenner posted the following in the @devotedly.yours comments section: “This is over the top. No offence to Selena ever, and I missed her posts about her eyebrows. Your team is creating something from nothing. This is absurd.”

In response to Jenner’s remark, Gomez added, “@kyliejenner, I concur. Everything of it is superfluous. I enjoy Kylie’s music!”

Following her return to the #1 spot on Instagram, Selena Gomez declares a social media hiatus.

Gomez informed her followers in a TikTok live video that was later uploaded on Twitter on Thursday that she is stepping away from social media. Since then, the singer and actress has taken down her TikTok account.

“This is kind of stupid, so I’m going to take a break from social media. I’m also thirty; I’m too old for this “stated Gomez in the video. “But, I adore you all very much, and I hope to see you soon. Simply said, I’m going to step away from everything.”

In the video, Gomez didn’t say why she stopped using social media.
