Angela Bassett and Jamie Lee Curtis came out in support of Ariana DeBose following BAFTA rap criticism.

Angela Bassett and Jamie Lee Curtis have made it clear that they loved Ariana DeBose’s rap about the nominated women at last weekend’s BAFTA Awards, which went viral and drew a lot of criticism.

“Angela Bassett did the thing,” the Oscar-winning “West Side Story” actress rapped about “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” star Bassett.

“I wanted to let everyone who could hear the sound of my voice know that I loved it and appreciated it,” Bassett told USA TODAY on the red carpet of the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday.

She was so taken with it that when she accepted the NAACP Image Award for entertainer of the year on Saturday, she began her speech with the same line: “I guess Angela Bassett did the thing!”

Bassett stated that the speech was her attempt to change public perception of the performance.

“It was looking one way at first,” Bassett explained. “‘Hold on, stay patient, it can turn,’ I said. And things are starting to look up. To be a lovely moment. It’s for both of us. And I’m glad because I really enjoyed it.”

Curtis was seen bopping her head to DeBose’s wrap in the BAFTA audience.

“It was freezing yesterday. “It was freezing,” said Sheryl Lee Ralph of “Abbott Elementary.” “said from the comfort of the SAG red carpet. “My gown was also quite heavy. Are we going to make it out of here alive? I wondered. ‘Oh, my God,’ I thought.”

Curtis herself admitted to wearing “comfortable shoes” on the SAG red carpet. “I figured because it’s a long dress, no one would see them.”

Fran Drescher was concerned about what was going on at home on Sunday. “My roof leaks like nobody’s business,” she explained. “Now I must wait for the rain to stop and the roof to dry before they can repair it. It’s very old fashioned. The house is littered with pots.”

Ralph was still buzzing from Wednesday’s episode’s long-awaited “Abbott Elementary” kiss between Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory (Tyler James Williams). It only took a season and a half of tension for the two characters to calm down.

“Janine and Gregory require counselling. They require individual therapy. They also require couple therapy “Ralph stated. “However, I’m really enjoying where this is going.”
