More than 16,000 vehicles from well-known automakers are among the most recent recalls, including Chevrolet, which is offering to repurchase recalled vehicles from owners.
The recalls were reported in recent weeks by automakers or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States.
The following are the most recent recalls:
Electric BMW vehicles
According to an NHTSA report, BMW is recalling 14,086 hybrid electric vehicles due to a software flaw that can cause electrical power interruption while the vehicle is running.
2022-23 iX, i4 and i7 models are affected:
2022-23 iX xDrive 40, xDrive 50, and M60: 5,389 vehicles are affected.
BMW i4 eDrive35, eDrive40, and M50 2022-23: Approximately 8,659 vehicles are affected.
BMW i7 xDrive60 2023-23: Approximately 38 vehicles are affected
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified on February 10, according to BMW. The vehicles can be taken to a BMW dealer for free software updates.
Malibu (Chevrolet)
According to an NHTSA report, General Motors recalled 2,108 2022-2023 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles because the front impact bar may be defective and fail to trigger the crash sensors that deploy safety features during a collision.
GM halted vehicle deliveries on December 9 and notified dealers of the recall on December 14. According to the NHTSA, owners will be notified on February 6.
Owners may bring their vehicle to a dealer for inspection. If an incomplete weld is discovered, GM will offer to buy the vehicle back.
RVs with three E’s
According to an NHTSA report, Canadian RV manufacturer Triple E is recalling 341 vehicles due to a defect that can cause a short circuit and ignite a fire.
The 2021-2022 Unity U24IB and 2021-2023 Unity U24TB are the vehicles being recalled.
A battery disconnect switch is located near the fridge cabinet area in the vehicles. According to the report, the switch terminal posts are “too close” to the cabinet’s metal frame. According to the NHTSA report, the posts can make contact with the frame, causing a short circuit and blowing a 100 amp fuse.
Owners and dealers will be notified of the recall on January 25, according to the report. The fix entails covering the terminal posts of the battery disconnect switch with protective rubber covers.
