Constance Wu has given the go-ahead for the sequel to her motherhood journey.
The actress and “Velma” star announced Tuesday on social media that she is expecting her second child. Wu shared an Instagram story photo of herself smiling and pointing to her growing baby bump.
“Bun in the oven,” wrote Wu. “Filipino baby number two is on the way.”
Wu’s pregnancy announcement on social media is a departure for her, who is notoriously private about her personal life and did not announce her pregnancy with her first child, a daughter due in the summer of 2020.
In December 2020, Wu’s manager Larry Taube confirmed to USA TODAY that Wu had privately welcomed a baby girl with musician boyfriend Ryan Kattner, aka Honus Honus of the rock band Man Man.
Wu spoke out about the backlash she’s received for dating non-Asian men in 2018.
“Any form of hatred or criticism does not feel good,” Wu told StyleCaster. “However, I believe that having the freedom to express things that are painful to certain people and to initiate conversations about deeper issues is important (is a good thing). Unfortunately, those conversations are sometimes targeted, but I’m very confident in the decisions I make and why I make them.”
Wu’s pregnancy comes after a period of personal release for the actress, who published her debut book, “Making a Scene,” in October. The book, a collection of intimate essays, saw Wu be open about the abuse she claimed she suffered while working on the sitcom “Fresh Off the Boat,” as well as her mental health issues.
