You may have to wait 23 years to hear this new Dolly Parton song.
During an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the iconic singer revealed that she recorded a top-secret song seven years ago and buried it in a time capsule to be opened in 2045.
“You have no idea how much that bothers me,” Parton said. “I really want to go find that. It’s a really good song!”
The song was written and recorded for the 2015 opening of her Dollywood DreamMore resort. The song will be kept in the time capsule until the resort’s 30th anniversary, when Parton will be (hopefully) 99 years old.
She joked that she didn’t “know whose damn idea that was.”
“They weren’t expecting me to be there at all, and I probably won’t be,” Parton said. “I might be there. That’s what bothers me – if it rots in there before they open it.”
Parton recently revealed another secret to ET Canada: how she has remained happily married to her husband, Carl Dean, for the past 56 years.
She explained that it all comes down to giving each other space, noting that with her hectic schedule, “we’re not in each other’s faces all the time.”
“He’s not in the business, so we have different interests, but we still have things we like to do together,” she explained. “I believe it was fate. He was the one I was supposed to have, and vice versa.”
