There are three look settings available on Mac devices: light, dark, and auto.
While auto switches from light during the day to dark at night, light mode maintains its “light” appearance.
According to Apple, “It’s effective for viewing documents, presentations, photos, movies, webpages, and more,” dark mode has a dark appearance and remains that way.
Depending on your OS, follow these steps to put your smartphone in dark mode if you want to change the way it looks.
Creating dark mode on a Mac
Here’s how to switch your Mac’s display to dark mode if you have macOS Ventura or later:
On your home screen, click the Apple icon in the upper left.
Afterward, select “Appearance” from the sidebar’s “System Settings” option.
Once you choose “Dark,” the dark mode is activated.
Here’s how to switch your Mac to dark mode if you have macOS Monterey 12 or earlier:
On your home screen, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner.
Then select “System Preferences.”

Go to “Appearance” and choose “Dark.” You are currently in dark mode.
Depending on your programme, use the same procedures to return your settings to light mode or auto.
