Back on stage is Keanu Reeves!
For their first concert in more than 20 years, the 58-year-old actor and his band Dogstar got back together on Saturday. The group was scheduled to perform at the northern California BottleRock Napa Valley music event together with Bret Domrose and Rob Mailhouse.
It’s wonderful to be back on stage! How wonderful a day we had, the band remarked on Instagram on Sunday. “Thank you so much, BottleRock.”
Prior to their performance, Reeves was anxious, but drummer Mailhouse of the group was able to calm him down. “He was just so upbeat. Listen to the music, he said. After the performance, the actor and Dogstar bassist told the San Francisco Chronicle, “Just be present in the music, and it will proceed from there.
“Today was kind of like our first kind of foray out,” he continued. The band is eager to perform. We’re just trying to see how to combine that with the fact that we have a track record.
According to the S.F. Chronicle, Dogstar performed songs from their albums “Our Little Visionary” from 1996 and “Happy Ending” from 2000 in addition to tracks from their upcoming untitled album.
After a two-decade absence, the alternative rock band decided to produce a project and plan to tour in the future. They formally got back together last year.
According to Mailhouse, “We love writing and we love playing.” “We reunited with a lot of vigour and passion. And as it went along, it was like, “OK, let’s record this.”
The “John Wick” actor said last week to Billboard ahead of the festival performance that performing with Dogstar is “something I’ve always missed.”
“I missed playing together, I missed writing together, and I missed doing shows together,” Reeves added. “We reached a point where we stopped playing, and I missed it… “OK, let’s make this happen,” we said once we started playing and noticed how nice, optimistic, and creative it felt.
