Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are settling into parenthood.
Somerhalder and Reed, who starred in the teen vampire dramas “The Vampire Diaries” and the “Twilight” saga, announced on Instagram Monday that Reed is expecting their second child. The actors also have a 5-year-old daughter named Bodhi Soleil.
“2023 celebrating life,” Reed wrote alongside a photo of herself holding Bodhi in one hand and her growing baby bump in the other. “Years of planning, manifesting, and praying for this exact moment. So much affection. What a blessing.”
“As all of you know, I have very strict boundaries with social media, especially when it comes to children and what I choose to put out into the world,” she continued. Thank you so much for doing so, as well as sending positivity, kindness, and LOVE. Some things are simply too good to keep to themselves.”
Somerhalder posted the same photo of Reed and Bodhi to his Instagram page and thanked his wife.
“All I’ve ever wanted since I was a little boy was a big family,” Somerhalder wrote. “Thank you, Nik, for that present. ROUND TWO IS HERE!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you to this incredible human for the gift of life and love, for being the best mom ever and working so hard to make dreams come true!!!

Somerhalder and Reed have previously used Instagram to share family news. Reed’s pregnancy with Bodhi was also announced on the social media platform in May 2017, with a sweet outdoor photo of Somerhalder kissing Reed’s belly.
“Hi Little One,” Reed captioned her photo. “How can you love someone so much already? All I know is that it’s the strongest feeling I’ve ever had.”
Somerhalder posted the same photo, but instead of addressing it to his baby, he addressed it to his friends and family. “In my 38 years on this planet, I’ve never witnessed anything more powerful and beautiful than this. “There is nothing more exciting than this next chapter, and we wanted you to hear it from us first,” he said. “I appreciate your kind energy.”
From 2009 to 2017, Somerhalder played Damon Salvatore on “The Vampire Diaries,” while Reed played Rosalie Hale in “Twilight,” “New Moon,” “Eclipse,” and “Breaking Dawn” Parts 1 and 2 in 2011 and 2012.
