National Popcorn Day is Thursday, Jan. 19, and you can celebrate by getting a deal on the popular movie snack in theatres across the country.
According to ticketing company Fandango, popcorn reigns supreme among moviegoers. According to a 2022 Fandango survey, 83% of participants believe that movie theatre popcorn tastes better than kernels popped at home.
According to Cinemark, moviegoers consumed more than five billion ounces of popcorn in Cinemark theatres nationwide last year.
Here are some movie theatres that will be offering freebies and deals on Thursday to satisfy your craving for the buttery, savoury snack.
AMC Cinemas
Both in-theater and online, guests can save 50% on traditional popcorn.
All year, AMC Stubs members can get a free refill with the purchase of a large popcorn.
Cinemark
Large popcorn is 50% off at the counter or through the Snacks in a Tap advance ordering feature.
To commemorate the occasion, Cinemark is also holding a sweepstakes. Follow Cinemark (@Cinemark) on Instagram and comment on its National Popcorn Day post on Thursday for a chance to win a free large popcorn. Customers who place a concessions order through Snacks in a Tap on Thursday will be entered to win free popcorn and Coke for a year.
Cinemas on Display
Starpass members receive a free regular-sized popcorn with any ticket purchase at all locations in Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, and Rhode Island.
The offer is only valid at the concession stand.
