This year’s new family resorts and hotels have everything from cool kids clubs and postcard-worthy views to spacious accommodations and family-friendly perks like water slides, lazy rivers, and on-site ice cream parlours serving cool refreshments all year. Here are the most anticipated new family hotels set to open in the United States, the Caribbean, and Mexico in 2023.

Opening in November 2022
The natural setting is the star of the new Susurros del Corazon beachfront resort, which will open in late 2022 on the northern end of Bahia de Banderas near Puerto Vallarta. Families can take surfing and paddle board lessons, go snorkelling, swim in the family pool, and maybe even see a humpback whale during migration season, which runs from December to March.
Los Morritos, the resort’s kids club for ages five to twelve, provides activities and programming inspired by Mexican culture, such as Mexican folk-art pottery classes and hands-on culinary sessions. Light and bright contemporary designs incorporate natural materials and Mexican craft culture in the guest rooms, suites, and villas. Guest rooms also have private terraces and plenty of windows to take in the breathtaking views.
The Embassy Suites by Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort is ranked second.

The new Embassy Suites by Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort, one of three hotel options at the beachfront Cavalier Resort, will feature 157 suites with ocean views and plenty of space for the whole family. Indoor and outdoor pools, a 24-hour fitness centre, and a beachfront taco shack are among the amenities planned for the property.
Guests can also use the amenities and visit the restaurants and bars at the other hotels throughout the resort, including the new kid-friendly We Scream ice cream shop and Tarnished Truth, the country’s first in-hotel distillery. Throughout the summer, a full calendar of resort activities will be available, with plenty of options for kids, adults, and the entire family.

St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands
Opening in the spring of 2023
The new two-property Frenchman’s Reef resort in St. Thomas will include The Westin Beach Resort and Spa at Frenchman’s Reef and the Buoy Haus Beach Resort when it opens in early 2023. The resort will be perched above the Caribbean Sea and Morningstar Beach, providing stunning views and easy access to the water.
Guests can relax by the ocean view pools, book face and body treatments at Heavenly Spa by Westin, or head down to the resort’s private beachfront for activities and programming for the entire family. Do you want more adventure? For snorkelling excursions and sunset sails, a private catamaran will depart from the resort’s dock.
30A The Lodge
Florida’s Santa Rosa Beach

The Lodge 30A is a three-story boutique hotel in the Florida Panhandle’s South Walton area that will feature 85 studio-style and suite-style guest rooms with kitchenettes. Guests can use the on-site outdoor pool and fitness centre, as well as the nearby Watersound Beach Club, which offers beach access, multiple pools, a lazy river, and restaurants for a daily fee.
The hotel takes design cues from its natural surroundings and is located near Florida’s 15,000-acre Point Washington State Forest. It will serve as a good home base for exploring South Walton’s sugar-sand beaches and 16 different beach neighbourhoods. It’s also close to Greenway Station, a new shopping and dining district (opening summer 2023).
Hotel Embassy Suites by Hilton Aruba

The new Embassy Suites by Hilton Aruba Resort will be the first Embassy Suites property in Aruba and the Caribbean island’s second Hilton-branded resort. Families can reserve one of the 330 tropically stylish suites, which offer views of the Caribbean, plenty of space to spread out, and close proximity to Eagle Beach, a perennial favourite for visitors.
In addition to spending time on the beach, guests can swim in the kids-only or adults-only pools and enjoy an al fresco meal or refreshing beverage from one of the resort’s five on-site dining options.
Omni PGA Frisco Resort No. 6
Dallas, Texas

The new Omni PGA Frisco Resort, located near the recently opened PGA of America headquarters in Frisco, Texas, will appeal to golfers of all ages and skill levels. In addition to two 18-hole championship golf courses, guests can enjoy a lighted two-acre putting course (the largest natural-grass putting course in the world) and a lighted 10-hole short course on their golf vacation, as well as stop by the PGA Coaching Center for club fittings and instruction.
Non-golfers will be able to swim in the resort’s four pools, book a spa treatment, and shop in the resort’s PGA entertainment district. Even picky eaters will find something to like among the resort’s 13 dining options, which range from sports bar fare to artisanal ice cream. Families can book one of the 500 guest rooms and suites or one of the 10 four-bedroom ranch houses.
AutoCamp Zion and AutoCamp Asheville are both located in North Carolina.
Asheville, North Carolina and Virgin, Utah

The AutoCamp brand, known for offering stylish Airstream suites and luxe tent setups in scenic nature-focused areas, has a lot going on in 2023. The first stop will be AutoCamp Zion, which will have 72 Airstreams and 10 BaseCamps with both an Airstream and a tent. The property will be located about 20 minutes from Zion National Park on 16 acres of land along the Virgin River and will include an all-season pool, communal fire pit, riverfront beach access, and a clubhouse with a general store and food and beverage options.
Similarly, AutoCamp Asheville will provide convenient access to outdoor adventures in the Blue Ridge Mountains as well as the hip North Carolina city popular with foodies and beer drinkers. The Asheville location will feature 51 Airstreams, four BaseCamps, and six compact Bambi Airstreams, as well as an all-season pool, bar and lounge, and clubhouse.
Rochester Downtown Hampton Inn and Suites

The new (and pet-friendly) Hampton Inn and Suites Rochester Downtown will be located in the museum’s new Neighborhood of Play, as part of a major expansion of The Strong National Museum of Play, which houses the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of historical materials related to play. There are also shopping, dining, and residential components for guests to enjoy.
Everything from the 126 guest rooms (including 40 suites and five bunk-bed rooms) to the zero-entry indoor pool will take playful cues from its museum neighbour. A fitness centre, lounge, and daily hot breakfast will be available as extras. It’s a great place to stay if you want to see the museum’s new 90,000-square-foot wing dedicated to video game history and the World Video Game Hall of Fame, both of which open in 2023.
Great Wolf Lodge in Maryland

The new Great Wolf Lodge Maryland will be the 20th location for this popular indoor water park resort chain when it opens this summer. It will be a short drive from Baltimore, Philadelphia, Wilmington, and the Washington, D.C. area, as it is located in Perryville, Maryland. Families can reserve one of the lodge’s 700 suites, some of which will feature fun hotel rooms for kids such as log cabin-themed or cave-themed sleeping areas.
Great Wolf Lodge Maryland will feature a 126,000-square-foot indoor water park with water slides, a wave pool, and a lazy river, as well as multiple kid-centric dining options and the 57,000-square-foot Great Wolf Adventure Park, a family entertainment centre with bowling, mini golf, a ropes course, and other activities.
