New York Rep.-elect Santos admits to lying about his career and college education.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep.-elect George Santos, R-NY, admitted on Monday that he lied about his job experience and college education during his successful congressional campaign.

“My sins here are embellishing my resume,” Santos said in an interview with the New York Post. I apologise.”

“I campaigned talking about the people’s concerns, not my resume,” he told the newspaper, adding, “I intend to deliver on the promises I made during the campaign.”

The New York Times raised concerns last week about Santos’s life story, which he presented during his campaign.

The Queens resident claimed to have a degree from New York’s Baruch College, but the school said that couldn’t be confirmed.

“I didn’t graduate from any institution of higher learning,” Santos admitted on Monday. I’m ashamed and sorry for embellishing my resume.”

“I own up to that,” he added. In life, we do stupid things.”

Santos also claimed to have worked for Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, but neither company could find any records to back up his claims.
