“Only Murders in the Building” returns for Season 3 with even more star power, as if the show’s core cast of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez wasn’t already enough.
Martin shared a photo from set with his legendary castmates, Season 2’s surprise guest star Paul Rudd, and a new face: Meryl Streep, on Tuesday.

What role does Paul Rudd play in the show?
Rudd first appeared in the Season 2 finale of “Only Murders” as Broadway star Ben Glenroy.
The final episode picks up a year after Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short), and Mabel (Gomez) solved the murder of Bunny (Jayne Houdyshell), who died at the end of Season 1.
Charles and Mabel go to the Broadway premiere of Oliver’s show, which stars Charles and Ben, an impolite prominent actor. Ben dies shortly after delivering his opening monologue when the curtain rises. Charles is very likely to be a suspect in another crime.
“You’ve got to be (expletive) kidding me,” Mabel says as the episode fades to black, teasing the third season’s new mystery: a murder outside the Arconia building.
In the upcoming season, fans will most likely learn more about Ben and what led to his death.
What role does Meryl Streep play?
It’s unclear who Streep will play in the new season, but fans (and Gomez) are overjoyed.

“Could it possibly get any better?” Gomez explains. The camera pans through the cast members before Streep appears, and Gomez’s face lights up with fangirl glee.
“Meet our new and old crew!” she wrote alongside the video. “Please excuse me while I scream inside a pillow.”
When will Season 3 of ‘Only Murders’ premiere?
Hulu hasn’t said anything yet. The official Hulu account refused to answer a fan’s question about Season 3’s release date on Twitter.
“We don’t have any news to share at the moment, but we will certainly share your enthusiasm with our team. For the time being, make sure the series is in your WL/My Stuff for all updates.”
Hulu confirmed the series’ renewal for a third season in July. According to Martin and Gomez, filming has already begun.

“Only Murders in the Building” is only available on Hulu. The first two seasons are available for viewing at any time. The basic Hulu plan costs $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. If you want to watch Hulu without ads, the monthly fee rises to $14.99.
