Members of the royal family appeared in public for the first time since the publication of Prince Harry’s explosive memoir on Thursday, touring charities and a hospital as they got back to work.
King Charles III visited Scotland to meet with local groups that help combat rural isolation, while the Prince and Princess of Wales appeared at ease as they arrived to formally open Royal Liverpool University Hospital in The Beatles’ hometown.
The book “Spare” contains numerous revelations and accusations, many of which have been widely publicised in the global media for days. In the ghostwritten memoir, Harry, 38, recalls his mother’s death, a fight with brother Prince William, and his unease with the role of royal “spare” in the shadow of his elder sibling, who is heir to the British throne.
In a series of interviews, Harry repeatedly blamed the media for his problems, claiming that unfair and intrusive coverage exacerbated his feud with William. He also accuses royal family members of leaking stories to the media in order to boost their own reputations.

People are buying the memoir in droves.
Penguin Random House reported on Wednesday that first-day sales had surpassed 1.4 million copies. In comparison, when Michelle Obama’s blockbuster “Becoming” was released in 2018, it took a week to reach 1.4 million viewers.
“Spare” sales figures include hardcover, audiobook, and e-book editions sold in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
′′’Spare’ is the story of someone we thought we knew, but now we can truly understand Prince Harry through his own words,” Gina Centrello, President and Publisher of the Random House Group, said in a statement.
“Based on these incredible first-day sales, readers clearly agree that ‘Spare’ is a book that demands to be read, and it is a book we are proud to publish.”
