Trevor Noah, farewell. Good day, Leslie Jones… and Wanda Sykes… and D.L. Hughley.
Following Noah’s departure from Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” in December, a lineup of guest hosts has been assembled. Their turns begin on Tuesday.
While fans await the network’s announcement of a permanent host, here’s what to expect from the long-running current events programme in the meantime.
Who is currently hosting ‘The Daily Show’?
Jones, a “Saturday Night Live” alum, is the first guest host to take the stage, and her week begins on Tuesday. On “The View” on Monday, the comedian gave viewers a taste of what “Daily Show” fans can expect.
“Oh, don’t expect me to be nice. It’s finally time, “She made a joke. “Black women run things, and people do listen to us when we speak up. ‘Yeah, it’s time for you to stop acting this way,’ it says. Let’s act like we’ve got some sense now.’ And I’m not afraid to tap that (expletive).”
However, Jones stated that she would be uninterested in the permanent position because talking politics every day would “bring her down.”
Who else will be hosting?
For the time being, Comedy Central has lined up several comedians to fill Noah’s shoes. The following is the upcoming guest-host schedule:
Leslie Jones, week of January 17
Wanda Sykes, week of January 23
D.L. Hughley, D.L. Hughley, D.L. Hughley, D.L. Hug
Chelsea Handler, week of February 6
Sarah Silverman in the week of February 13th
Al Franken, John Leguizamo, Hasan Minhaj, Kal Penn, and Marlon Wayans are also expected to host; however, no dates have been set.
Who is ‘The Daily Show’s’ new permanent host?
The show’s new permanent host has yet to be announced by Comedy Central.
What caused Trevor Noah to leave the show?
Noah announced his departure from “The Daily Show” during a taping on September 29.
“My time is up after seven years, but in the most beautiful way possible. “I’ve enjoyed hosting this show,” he said of the network’s “crazy choice.” “to get him in. “However, after seven years, I think it’s time.”
He later expressed a desire to travel and have more time to himself.
“There’s one thing you never get back in life, and that’s time,” Noah said. “I’m now looking forward to getting back to doing some of the things I really enjoyed doing around the world.”
Noah is making good on his word by kicking off his 28-city North American stand-up tour, dubbed the “Off The Record Tour,” on Friday.
What was Trevor Noah’s final day?
On December 8, Noah said goodbye to “The Daily Show” with a “special shoutout to Black women.”
“I always tell people that if they want to learn about America, they should talk to Black women.” He explained that this is because “Black women, like everyone else, can’t afford to (expletive) around and find out.”
“Black people understand how difficult it is when things go wrong, especially in America or anywhere where there are Black people,” he said, adding that Black women in particular “know what happens if things do not go as they should.”
“I’ll tell you now, do yourself a favour: Talk to Black women if you truly want to know what to do, how to do it, or perhaps the best or most equitable way,” he continued. “They’re a big part of why I’m here.”
Who has hosted ‘The Daily Show’ before?
Craig Kilborn hosted “The Daily Show” from 1996 to 1998, and Jon Stewart hosted it from 1999 to 2015. In 2015, Noah took over the show.
