The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce stated on its website that Tupac will get a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the following week in Los Angeles.
The 2,758th star in the chamber will be added under the recording category, according to the organisers.
According to organisers, the rapper’s sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur will accept the honour, while radio host Big Boy will emcee the ceremony.
Afeni and Tupac Shakur’s relationship is the subject of the FX documentary series “Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur,” which premiered in April. Guest speakers at the event will include Allen Hughes and Jamal Joseph, the show’s director and executive producer.
Date and timing of the Tupac Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony
On June 7, at 10:30 a.m. local time, the event will begin on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame in more detail
According to the organisers, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce oversees the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has hosted celebrations honouring celebrities for decades.
In order to “maintain the glory of a community whose name means (glamour) and excitement in the four corners of the world,” as stated on the Hollywood Walk of Fame website, volunteer president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce E. M. Stuart advocated for the creation of the walk in 1953.
To demonstrate what the Hollywood Walk of Fame may look like if it were to materialise, the chamber and the city had placed eight stars on Hollywood Boulevard by August 15, 1958. Actors like Joanne Woodward, Ernest Torrence, and Louise Fazenda were among the famous people honoured on the stars.
The walk’s construction had started in February 1960. The first star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was unveiled in March 1960 in memory of director and producer Stanley Kramer, who was best known for producing “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.”
Millions of people have visited the Hollywood Walk of Fame since it opened in 1960, according to organisers.
Tupac was who?
Tupac was a poet, activist, actor, and rapper. In September 1996, a drive-by gunshot resulted in his death.
“This iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come,” Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, stated in a news release. Tupac’s star “will undoubtedly be added to the list of most visited stars” because it is a native of Los Angeles.
