Microsoft has now disclosed that starting in June, Windows 11 will have a number of new generative AI-powered capabilities. The core element is a suite of text-driven assistive features called Windows Copilot that make using your PC simpler and more natural.

When will Windows Copilot be introduced?
In June, beta testers will be able to use Windows Copilot in preview. Later this year, it will be made accessible to the general public.
How is Windows Copilot put to use?

Recently, there have been debates about converting some of these features into functionalities that may operate locally on our devices and utilise their processing power.
Most people probably won’t care much about that. You just want things done, after all, and you don’t really care how or where it happens.
But it turns out that the location of the “work” has some significant ramifications that are worth comprehending. The cost, availability, security, and privacy of these apps and services are all directly impacted by how computing is dispersed across many regions.
As creative and interesting as these generative AI applications can be, they are swiftly earning a bad reputation for being power hogs because generative AI activities require a lot of really powerful computer servers.
The greater the need for computers hosted by cloud computing providers to run them and energy to power them, the more individuals who want to use these features and the more services that are offered.
However, none of those things are free, so businesses will eventually likely pass along part of the expenses to customers and clients who utilise these services. However, they may lessen these demands for cloud-based computing and, consequently, their expenses by transferring some of the processing work to our devices. In the end, that means they (ideally) won’t pass on customers of generative AI apps and services as much, or even any, of the expenses.
